Russ,
What "rules" could you break with a post?

Yes, I responded to some there and thought I had sold it to a guy overseas. Turns out, the costs of shipping it was too great.

Dave I truly understand about shipping ! I sold a antique clock to a guy that beat me down in price only to find out he was in Canada and with shipping & insurance , I would have been paying him to "buy" my clock..........I passed!Dave wrote:russau wrote: Dave guys over on Treasurenet.com are looking for these. Dave, Russ,
I too run into the shipping cost thing as impossible sometimes...
When I was first selling my gold cons to pan out, USPS Priority international mail flat rate envelope up to 4 pounds was "only" $19.95 to anywhere overseas.
Today? Ha! It's up to $31.95! Also, no insurance available on envelopes going overseas. Have to step up to like Express to get that, so no surprise.....I only get about 2 folks a year now in Europe that are willing to pay that much shipping for a 3-pound bag of cons.
Also, several years back UPS and FedEx sent me notices to me at my Gold Adventures business accounts (here at home) saying they'd changed their cost structures to the GREATER of the weight or the bulk size...
SO, if it's heavier than bulkier, you pay the weight, if it takes up more space but is light as a feather, you pay for the space... SO, they get you coming and going!
Example: Dee's mother loves collecting cactus of different types, from all over. Several years back I shipped her a cactus I dug up out in my field. It weighed all of 2 pounds, but was a big box, full of bubble pack, about 14 inches square. Cost like $9 to ship.
Last year I shipped a similar box, 2 pounds at most, cost me like $19!
I don't send her anymore cool, odd Kolorado cacti anymore...
