Colorado -- First Elk on My Property -- 16 Mar 2016

Hey Gold Adventurers...
Well, yesterday afternoon I FINALLY spotted the first 3 Elk of the year on my property, off my East porch:
We've had 2 to 3 inches of snow the last 2 days in a row............but with the sun and winds, most of it melts in by late afternoon.
To my great surprise we has 3 cows off my East porch......2 of average size and 1 younger one.
My son took these pics with his cell phone camera. One was thru my spotting scope, so it's a 20X close up of the youngest one.
In years past we've had herds of 75 to 150+ out here, but these days it seems the Elks aren't around, and not around in the numbers we once had...
Still, cool to see big game other than Mule Deer.
Oh, with their white butts and shaggy necks...........my sweet wife calls the "Colorado Camels". They sort of have that look....

Ha. Believe me............THAT was my plan...
BUT, they never showed up on my property. My Elk cow tag expired 30 minutes past sunset on 31 Jan 16.
Maybe I'll get another tag this year.............as I have already applied..........and get one THIS year.
Wish me luck on the tag AND the cow!
