Colorado -- Snow, Snow & More Snow -- January 2017
Hey Gold Adventurers...
I've probably had a good 3 feet of snow fall here at my house North of Buena Vista in the last week or so.
Looks like Kalifornia is getting hammered again with more heavy rains and snow above 5,000 feet, I am sure I'll see some more snow in a couple days.
I spend a lot of time snow blowing, shoveling lately. Good thing my Man Cave wood stove is always cookin' along....
We're WAY over 100% of average annual snow pack, and traditionally April & May give us several very big, very wet & heavy snows too. SO, maybe this year's snow melt will really flood the Arkansas River, pile up more fine flood gold to get!
Here's a bunch of pics of me out recently blowing snow, shoveling snow:
Come on Spring!

Randy, you may need to think about getting flood insurance. But in the mean time you can make lots of snow men.
Maybe time to check out the equipment and repan some cons.

Randy because of you guys NOT taking care of business , we got freezing rain coming in to the mid west with anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice for two days then itll heat back up and bring in the rain to wash all of the mess away!

Re: Colorado -- Snow, Snow & More Snow -- January 2017
Russ,
Sorry... Ha. I actually TRIED to milk ALL of the moisture out of that storm here as I could...
Sorry I let a little get past, give "you all" a lot of ice and freezing rain.
But let's be honest, you all SHOULD know better.............stay home, indoors, and OFF the roads & highways when it's a pure skating rink!
Is there any super fine flood gold there in the Missouri River? How far West do you have to travel to get to your first gold?

Yes there is fine gold but the bigger stuff its out where I cant get to it! The fine gold is all along the Misery River PLUS the Big Muddy has gold in it also and neither of them are very far from me ! Its close to me , both Rivers run right through St. Louis. one to the North(2 miles to the Misery River) and the Mississippi River , 8 miles to the East.

Russ, Dickb, et al.,
Well...............the skies have FINALLY cleared...............after about a week of low clouds, snow after snow events...
It was a crisp 11F outside this morning.
Here's a few pics of Mt. Princeton, Mt. Yale, Mt. Columbia and the twin Buffalo Peaks:
We're about 158% now of average annual snow pack for mid way thru January............and we normally get snows all the way until the end of May! Hope all this snow melt come May & June washes me some nice fine flood gold on the Ark into piles for me to pan and sluice up!

Russ,
Thanks.... White as can be...
Looks like another big winter storm pounding Washington, Oregon and Northern Kalifornia.......so, I suspect in like 3 days we'll be gettin' more of the white stuff here.
That's O.K.
My TroyBuilt 26 inch snow blower is ready!

Re: Colorado -- Snow, Snow & More Snow -- January 2017
Jloyd,
Hope you all hang in there... We basically can do no drywashing here at all.
Snows don't melt off as late as early June and then July/August thunderstorms are so common the top couple inches of ground may be dry, but usually wet always down deeper.....especially if any clayish soils.
We've had about 4 days of warm/sunny afternoons, lows of mid 20s and highs up to 45 plus, so a LOT of our snow here at my house and lower elevations (I am at 8,500 feet) have started to melt some. Open ground now on my driveway and under most trees. Still a foot or so in drifts and many open areas.
Come on Spring!

Russ,
HA! Be very careful what you wish for...
Spring is a LONG way off...
Who knows, we could get more "winter" storms and cold, snow & ice there in Misery. They call it "Misery" for a reason! Ha.

Re: Colorado -- Snow, Snow & More Snow -- January 2017
Hi Folks:
Well, we didn't get much snow here either. Maybe two storms that we needed to push off the sidewalk and drive. Boy what a change, I remember when we would get 42"s of snow a winter and I made money plowing snow, not any more. Last year I only had the snow blower out twice and not at all this winter. We are suppose to hit record high of 67* for Feb today or tomorrow. The grass is already showing signs of greening up and we have been cleaning flowerbeds and the bushes of leaves already. No climate change here, HA!
Stay warm Randy and Russ don't sleep to long in the recliner.
Just added a new baby to the fleet.

Dickb,
Wow................super nice!
4-doors and s short box in back for ALL that gold prospecting equipment... Ha.
Come Spring you'll need to load up and come to pot smokin' "High" Kolorado and get some gold, while you still can!
My original 1996 red Jeep Cherokee 4-door I bought new in 1996 just went over 190,000 miles and is perfect for my needs here.......even has a cracked front windshield from following and trying to pass a backhoe on a trailer a couple years back.

Hi Randy:
I could show up in your driveway in the next year or two. Ma is retiring in July and we plan to head to CA. We have friends there, south of LA. We have an RV that the truck will tow and will be heading south on I-26 thru the Springs.
Going to get a topper for the box so I can lock my stuff up. With the SUV, I hate to have to haul the gas and motors in the back, stinks toooooo much. Had a long bed 76 when the kids were still growing, till puberty set in, HA. Grand kids now.
That's the Mighty Mississippi in the background.
As for gold, It will be at Lucky Strike in May to get some cons to bring back home.

Russ,
Rust showing after ONLY 16 years? HA! That's too good...
Living where they use salt and harsh snow/ice melters is a "gubermint" handshake deal that ensures the UAW and AFL-CIO have perprtual job security!
