I got a couple good spots to go and metal detect. One is just down the road and has a great story and past history. Some claim there's a great deal of money buried there. I have confirmed that it never has been found. I have permission to go anytime I want but I need a better detector. I'm looking at the Garrett AT Pro for my new machine.

John,

Thanks for the video...

O.K. Now, high time to get a shovel, bar and go back and dig up all that loot! Wink

I take it your detector doesn't have a "coin/jewelry" mode to help you discriminate between iron trash & quarters, nickels, dimes, pennies?

Can't wait for your next video, see what you actually dig up...

Randy,

It does, but there is no way to ground balance it. I'm going to upgrade to the Garrett AT Pro to weed out, looking for nails so to speak. I know this old home place has great potential to find some good stuff and its not the only place I have access to detect. I wish I had more experience in detecting for sure. This is where I wish someone like Kevin Hoagland was here to help.. Maybe someday!!

John,

Well..........I have done the same thing around here metal detecting around old 1800s miner's cabins and workings areas....

......ENDLESS amounts of trash. Those old timers were sure messy, to say the least!

There's an old adage............"if in doubt, dig it out!".. Ha. Wink

Sometimes coins will be together giving a strange signal, sometimes a coin will be with some iron junk, other times a "5cents/ring" actually turn out to be a ring!

Good luck!
