Quick intro
Randy,
Thought I'd give a quick intro and say hi.
I'm a recently (3 1/2 yrs) retired police officer and just getting into prospecting. I've metal detected for 35 yrs but have always wanted to get into prospecting, and this spring will be my first time. I've joined the GPAA, bought some classifiers, a pan, and a Gold Cube.
My wife and I live in Sioux Falls, SD so I'll do my first prospecting in the Black Hills.
I wish I would have started this a few years ago because we spent the summer/fall of 2012 in Fairplay CO. We were too busy playing tourist
I would have loved to get a few lessons from you & that area of Colorado is breath taking beautiful. I have a brother in the Springs so we may be taking a trip there for a visit. If it would work out I'd love to book an adventure with you.
I really enjoy your Youtube videos and the information on your website.
I plan to ask questions to you and others on this forum as I start my prospecting journey.
By the way, thank you for your service Randy.
Bob

Re: Quick intro
Bob F,
Well.........first......WELCOME to the "new" Gold Adventures web site Forum!!!
Also, if you have detectors and equipment and a Gold Cube, sounds like you're all set for high adventure.....and set to get some gold too.
Yep. Lots of great gold rush and mining history here in now pot smokin' "High" Kolorado. A big bucket line dredge ran for decades there around Fairplay on that fork of the Platte River. Thise huge rock piles to the East of town were from the stacker on the dredge piling up endless rocks that went thru the trammel inside.
The City of Fairplay lets you pan and sluice for a $5 permit/fee from below the "beach" down to the Hwy 285 bridge. Never tried it there, yet. Someday....
Glad you have seen my prospecting videos on my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/C0017A/videos
I tried to take a short video yesterday of me detecting up at Cache Creek with my new camera. Maybe I didn't save it properly. Will see if my teenage son can locate it on my memory card for me. IF I can, I'll post it on my YouTube Channel.
Good luck in the Black Hills area. Have heard there's good gold up there. I think the GPAA Claims Guide book lists some claims you might want to try...
IF you decide to come to the BV area, plz get with me. I'd love to guide you on the Arkansas River and/or up at the BLM Cache Creek property. Our gold is normally fine to very fine. Never get skunked.
Thanks for joining the Forum. Don't be a stranger...
Cheers,
