Colordao -- Cache Creek with Ron & Wayne -- 29 May 2014

Post by Admin on Sat Dec 05, 2015 10:57 am

Hey Gold Adventurers...

Reliving the past a little bit more.....posting a Trip Report on a great day spent up at Cache Creek with Ron & Wayne.

Here's my dig spot in the clay berm.  One has to dig it, soak/soften the material in a bucket and then hand wash it thru your sluice.  Man, that's a lot of "hard fun"!

Here's Ron:

Two views of my favorite sluice......the lightweight, green plastic drop riffle Le Trap:

A very nice couple of test pans.....showed some chunky Cache Creek gold!

Here's 2 pics of Wayne and his puppy dog:

A picture of Wayne's sluice, gettin' some Cache Creek gold:

Well, after a while it was time to do a midday cleanup.  Always real nice when you can actually see gold in your riffles!

My last run for the day, my Le Trap ready for a final cleanup:

Here's my final gold take for the day's washing glacial clay material. Think it was just about 1 gram:

Hey, got some nice gold.  Wink

Hope you get out soon, post your "adventure" here on the GA Forum...

Randy you need to "name" your LeTrap sluice with the 200 MPH tape on it "SURVIVOR" because of the near loss of it awhile back! Smile Always good to see people smileing with gold!

Russ,

Ha.  Good name...  Yep, I lost my $100 green plastic Le Trap sluice in the Arkansas River one day...  The water came up and/or the rocks holding it gave way....and away it floated until it was out in the middle of the Ark, out of sight in the deep, fast white water.  Bummer!  Embarassed

Two weeks later I was back at that same spot, walked down river about 200 yards, got on top of a big boulder.  Amazingly, I spotted it about 1 1/2 feet under water on the far side.  I got it back, what a gift!

SO, I installed a sluice "leash" and whenever I am on the river, any place I MIGHT lose it, I tie the leash to a stick and sit a BIG rock on the stick.  This way IF the sluice ever washes away I may lose my cons BUT I'll be able to reel my $100 Le Trap back in!  Very Happy I used a 1/4 inch hole I drilled on both sides and about 15 feet of parachute cord. Works great!

Live and learn...

HTH,
